Looking ahead to 2030 During 2010 Rabobank drew up future scenarios regarding the Dutch economy and related social issues. These issues include population aging, the associated shortage of people in the labour market, the affordability of pensions and mortgages, commodity shortages and prices, food security and safety, and stricter environmental requirements. These scenarios are used by Rabobank as a basis for examining trends in six sectors of industry in the Netherlands. The questions asked as part of this include which sectors will experience strong growth in 2030, can Dutch manufacturing cope with the increasing amount of competition from Asian countries, and what will be the impact of the demographic shift on the collective sector. By considering these questions, Rabobank is taking into account anticipated future policy and client needs. 76 Annual Report 2010 Rabobank Group
