Rabobank
Max van Lier is Head of Business Process Management
R&R Banking. He talks about his vision to further
improve cliënt satisfaction across Rabobank's retail
franchise.
A "My main tasks and responsibilities are to support the
R&R Management Team and Management of the in-
dividual R&R entities with service concepts for our R&R
clients (formula management). Our primary objective is
to identify areas where we can develop synergies,
and bring people together to support cross fertilization
between the R&R entities and between the R&R entities
and Rabobank Nederland and the member banks. There
are many similarities in these areas and ways in which
we service our clients, and step by step we all see that
there are great opportunities to learn from one another."
A 'The main focus at this moment is how to achieve
and further improve our F&A market leadership and
roll out a superior customer value proposition for
our F&A clients and retail clients across all entities by
sharing best practices. By doing this and stimulating
cross fertilization we expect to be able to offer better
services to our clients across the globe and at the
same time create more consistency across our units.
Additionally, aligning with the member banks - and
learning from our experiences in the Netherlands
- is important for our entities abroad."
A "By further improving the proposition to the clients
This doesn't just depend on the products that we
offer the cliënt, but it's at least just as important that
we have the right staff in position, with the right
F&A knowledge and capabilities."
ISSUE 26 JANUARY 2011 RI WORLD
One of Rabobank's greatest strengths
is that it's one of the few banks that
focuses squarely on the F&A sector; right
through the entire food chain. To visualise
this unique characteristic, the bank has
embarked on a project to produce a film
exploring its position within the sector.
The film, called 'Leading in Food and
Agribusiness', includes contributions
from 12 of the bank's leading clients
from around the world, all of whom are
directly involved in the food chain. The
film highlights Rabobank's belief that true
leadership lies in long-term relationships
based on cliënt intimacy and engage
ment. Knowing clients intimately, it says,
enables Rabobank to anticipate their
future needs.

Rabobank July 2010 launched RaboGoo/s,
an incentive programme aimed at staff
working on deals within RI Wholesale NL.
The aim of RaboGoals is to promote
internal teamwork, by rewarding these
deals that contribute best to Rabobank's
strategy to become the leading wholesale
bank in the Netherlands. To qualify, deals
need to meet at least two of the following
five criteria:
The cliënt involved has high visibility
in the Dutch market or in a Dutch
market sector
Rabobank performs a leading role in
the deal offering
The deal offering comprises various
products and/or services (cross-sell)
The deal offering consists of a unique
single product offering
The deal offering demonstrates Rabobank's
innovativeness and uniqueness in the
Dutch wholesale market.
As the Netherlands' largest and most in
volved sport sponsor, Rabobank encourages
and supports teamwork and collaboration.
The RaboGoal incentives all contribute to
this. Dealteams can choose to attend one
of the sponsor sportclinics; cycling, field
hockey or equestrian. Rabo Goals 100 was
scored in November, with Rabobank acting
as coordinator/Mandated Lead Arrangerofa
club deal of four banks, providing a EUR 123
million export finance/working capital facility
for IHC Dredgers. Fred Weenig, Head Whole
sale Clients Netherlands RI, said: "Achieving
100 RaboGoo/s before the year end is an
excellent result, underpinning our ambition
to become a leading wholesale bank in the
Netherlands."
