Around 300 senior representatives of the
bakery industry will listen to key-note
addresses from senior industry executives,
including Jan Kloosterman, Vice President
Industry Solutions of the Dutch based
company CSM, Hubert Frangois, the CEO
of Nutrixo (France), Joan Cornudella,
the Chief Executive of Panrico (Spain) and
Mohamed Elsarky of Lion Capital.
During the conference, Ben Davies, a senior
banker and Pan European Sector Leader in
Processed Food at Rabobank, will present
Rabobank's latest research publication on
the European bakery sector, which provides
an in depth analysis of the trends within
the industry.

On 24 March 2009, Rabobank held its annual Vision
on Food conference in Utrecht. Sipko Schat, Vice
Chairman of the Rabobank International Managing
Board, opened this year's event, which looked at the
future of the food supplier. With suppliers having to
compete with strong trade partners, and consumers
becoming ever more demanding, pressure on the
branded- and private-label manufacturers and fresh
produce suppliers is increasing.

suppliers, bakers and clients could meet,
discuss issues and do business. This will
change on 12 May 2009, when Rabobank

research firm GIRA will host the first-ever
European Bakery conference in Utrecht,
the Netherlands, which will look at the
challenges faced throughout the value
chain, such as bakery supply, manufacturing
and points of sale.
The pan-European approach of the
conference is unique, with most
conferences on the bakery sector
organised along local lines. Flowever,
the increasing focus of players on growth
opportunities outside of their domestic
markets highlights the need for new

from the food sector provided infor-
mation for the study via extensive desk
and consumer research. Many of the
participants received a copy of the
complete research publication, *Quo
Vadis?! Industry in 2009-2020, via their
relationship manager in the days
following the conference, providing
the opportunity for a commercial follow
upto the event.
The conference, which targets CEOs
and CFOs of food corporates, clients
and prospects from the Netherlands
and Belgium, had an impressive array of key note
speakers, including Dick Boer, President of Ahold
Nederland and member of the Executive Board
of Ahold N.V, Patrick Coveney, the CEO of Greencore
Group and Dr. Mehmood Khan, the Chief Scientific
Officer and member of the Executive Committee
PepsiCo.
