Mr. Bruce Dick, CEO Rabobank Australia New Zealand,
speaking at the lunch.
Acknowledging the importance of fostering
leadership in Australia's rural communities,
Dick said the CEFA partnership would enable
Rabobank to make a tangible, positive
difference in these communities. "Rabobank
is committed to supporting the rural
communities in which we operate and
the Rabobank Young Rural Leaders Summit
is a marvellous initiative where we can make
a real difference in helping to foster the
development of the rural community
leaders of tomorrow," he said.
The Young Rural Leaders Summit - which
was successfully piloted by CEFA in 2007 and
ran its first full programme in 2008 - is open
to youths aged between 16 and 18 who are
identified as potential future leaders based on
the leadership qualities they demonstrate in
their school and local community.
Developed and facilitated by Outward Bound
Australia, the Rabobank Young Rural Leaders
Summit provides an intensive seven-day pro-
gramme enabling participants to gain greater
levels of self-awareness, confidence, leadership
and team work skills as well as problem-
solving and time management abilities.
CEFA was established in 1998 to foster further
education, careerand personal development
opportunities for rural youth through
community-based encouragement and
financial assistance.
What? Launch FAR Global Dairy Report
When? 3 November 2008
Where? New Plymouth, Hamilton, Invercargill
and Ashburton, New Zealand
Ben Russel, General Manager
Rural New Zealand,
speaking at the launch.
At a series of functions held around the country,
Rural New Zealand successfully presented the
FAR Global Dairy report to around 1,100 leading
dairy farmers, representing more than 25% of
New Zealand's dairy production.
Hayley Moynihan, FAR senior analyst Dairy Animal
Proteins (NZ) and the report's co-author, officially
launched the functions with an overview of the report's
findings and medium-term outlook. Ben Russel,
Rural New Zealand's general manager, provided
an update on the global financial markets and the
impact on agriculture and the availability of credit.
He then outlined Rabobank's solid financial position
and appetite for high-quality new dairy business.
Ben Russel said: "The timing of the launch of the
FAR Global Dairy report could not have been better.
The intense volatility of the commodity markets,
coupled with tight credit availability created great
anticipation for Rabobank's view on the future of
the global dairy industry. It also signalled the start
of a concerted marketing effort to capture quality
dairy lending and ultimately boost the bank's dairy
portfolio."
