Rabobank held a media roundtable in Hong Kong on 5
August to launch the first China Food and Agribusiness
Map, a research report on the Chinese Food and Agri
business landscape which demonstrates that China is
truly shaping the world of Food and Agribusiness (F&A).
The map indicates that, with limited arable land resources,
China will focus on producing higher value and labour
intensive products such as animal protein and aqua-
culture, and importing cormmodities such as cotton.
While China will continue to dominate labour intensive
food processing sectors, the huge potential domestic
market is ultimately more attractive for local producers
and processors of many F&A products.
