"We have the green, one stage win,
and a man in the top five. We simply
had a good Tour," said Manager Erik
Breukink about the Rabo cycling
results in the Tour de France of 2008.
The 95th Tour de France, made up of
21 stages and covering a total distance
of 3500 kilometres, was a great success
for Rabobank's professional cycling
team.
Reasons to celebrate
Rabo sprinter Oscar Freire landed on
the final podium with 270 points and
was the Green Jersey Points winner.
Rabobank also fïnished third as a
team. However, for the full duration
of the Tour, the Yellow Jersey was
the team's target. Whereas the Green
Jersey was not a formulated objective,
winning the Points Jersey was reason
to celebrate within the team. Breukink
said: "Our main objective was the final
victory. We did not succeed. But, the
Green Jersey is a good prize." Rabo
ProTeam Director Harold Knebel
added: "We've never had a fourth place
ora Green Jersey, so we are proud."
During the Tour de France, various
cliënt events were organised related to
the various stages and a so-called 'final
weekend', taking place at the heart of
Paris. Rabobank's cycling team is
already looking ahead to the world's
main cycle race in 2009: "We will return
next year with the Yellow Jersey as a
main goal once again," according to
Team Manager Breukink.

presents the 2008 Rabobank Leadership Award
to Nick Burton Taylor.
On Tuesday 29 July, the bank hosted the third
annual Rabobank leadership dinner featuring
Roger Corbett as a special guest speaker.
This signature event brings together leaders
operating in the food, agribusiness and
beverage sectors to share valuable insights
for the continued growth and development
of these sectors.
Appropriately held in the 'Masters Room' at
the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the 170
guests were captivated by ex-Woolworths
CEO Roger Corbett. The audience was
taken on the journey of development and
ongoing success of global giants Woolworths
and Walmart, and moving forward, how these
organisations are addressing climate change
challenges to operate in a sustainable and
responsible manner.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation
of the prestigious Rabobank leadership award
to Nick Burton Taylor. The peer-nominated and
peer-judged award is presented in recognition
of an individual in a leadership role who has
made a significant contribution within the
food, beverage and agribusiness industry. Nick
Burton Taylor is a successful pastoralist, career
businessman, highly respected Chairman and
Director across a range of industries, and as
founding Chairman of the Country Education
Foundation, displays a large focus on giving
back to rural communities.
The Rabobank leadership award winner was
announced in the Australian Financial Review
on 30 July and will also be featured in the
August edition of BOSS magazine.
