SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE
Utrecht/Londen - The Utrecht and London-based Structured Client Solutions team was nominated for the Best CPPI/DPPI award by Credit-
flux, the leading online and printed information service for credit derivatives and structured credit markets. Rabobank was awarded second
prize at the awards ceremony held in September at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, closely behind Cairn Capital. An extraordinary
performance, taking current market conditions into account.
The Netherlands - According to Dutch quarterly magazine Economie, the Rabobank is the most socially responsible bank in
the world. This conclusion wasdrawn after careful cormparison of the achievements of 32 large international banks. "Some banks
have been making special efforts in the field of sustainability and responsible enterprising while others have not managed to keep up",
say scientists Laura Bijl and Bert Scholtens. Wim Boonstra, Director of Knowledge and Economie Research, was pleased but not surprised
by Rabobank's top performance: "We know how big Rabobank's drive to be socially responsible really is. But to get this recognition by an
independent scientific survey is very special".
Londen - London played host to Rabobank's Senior Managers Network - some 200 top executives from group operations including
member banks, Rabobank Nederland, Rabobank International, Robeco, De Lage Landen, Interpolis and Bank Sarasin. The two-day visit, held
in September and October, was initiated to give Network members a flavour of international wholesale banking. On the fïrst day, after be-
ing welcomed by Hans ten Cate and Bert Heemskerk, the group learned about the activities of Rabobank International in London and
the Global Financial Markets. The next day was all about London as the world'sfinancial centre. After learning about the City's
financial importance from Martin Russell, former banker turned consultant, visits were made to the world-famous Lloyd's, the
London Stock Exchange and the Bank of England.
Rotterdam - Young Rabobank employees battled against
rough seas, stormy winds and seasickness to take 10th place
in the Race of the Classics for Young Professionals 2007. The
sailing competition across the North Sea from Rotterdam (NL)
to Lowestoft (GB) used old, classic sailing ships.
Europe - The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) is the new European legislation, which replaced the existing Investment Services
and Banking Co-ordination Directives (ISD) on 1 November. This updated directive, Europe's most important legislation for enterprises and financial
markets, introducés new and more extensive obligationsforcompanies. MiFID is part of the Financial Services Action Plan (FASAP), the objective of
which is to unify the European market in financial services. The goals are the same as the former ISD; namely, achieving and maintaining honest,
transparent, efficiënt and integrated financial markets and the protection of investors and market integrity. MiFID's reach, however, goes further than
ISD. Through MiFID, more services and activities are possible in other member countries, which will improve the integration of Europe's financial
markets. Rabobank published an informative MiFID brochure, available online at www.rabobank.com.
