Behind the scenes
Dear colleagues,
The fïrst half of 2007 is already behind us and from first quarter figures, Rl is
doing well against budgets. You can be proud of our performance to date this
year, also in light of our 2010 ambitions. Your hard work and commitment mean
we are well on track. Keep up the very good work. Of course, there is always
room for improvement and various topics which we need to tackle. See my
article on page 4 for more on this. Our continued commitment to excellence is
even more imperative at this time. The banking sector in Europe is in a state of
flux as we see the first moves towards a new consolidation. This can have impli-
cations worldwide. So international Rabobankers must be alert to the changes
around us, focusing on reinforcing our strengths in Rl as an organisation, and in
our chosen markets.
In this issue of The Word there are a number of clear examples of more of our
strengths. A number of deals illustrate how the unique Rabobank approach
is supporting our clients in various regions of the world. I hope the contents
of The Word will give you both ideas and a lot of background on just some
of the activities that form the foundations of our multi-faceted international
banking organisation.
