Dynamic growth
Dear colleagues,
Be proud of your achievements during 2004. Overall, we expect the
Group's results to have increased by 12% in the past 12 months.
This is with considerable contributions from the wholesale business.
It would not have been possible without your commitment.
Years ago, one would have looked at the pace of change we experience
today and would have been mesmerized. This issue of The Word profiles
the dynamism in our organization - the expansion in the 'country banking'
initiative and international retail activities; the development of a new
wholesale-wide customer relationship management tooi: 'Radar'; and
the growing trend for mobile managers, managers who move around
the world, applying their knowledge in foreign markets as our international
presence grows.
The focus for 2005 is customer service - and the internal teamwork that
facilitates this. This is not a new focus. It is the foundation of our co-operative
organization. Inherent to exceptional service is the ability to be proactive.
We must be a few steps ahead ofclients and markets in order to takefull
advantage of opportunities. I urge you to keep abreast of our strategie and
operational developments - and this publication is an ideal place to start.
