images. Rabobank Netherlands Art
Affairs Consultant, Verily Klaassen,
curated the collection in cooperation
with a small art committee consisting
of two people front Rabobank
International (RI) and two front
Corporate Clients. She explains: 'Dutch
photography, with its unique "clear
view" aesthetic, leads the field in con-
temporary photography. The photos
chosen to be part of the "Silver
Collection" represent this aesthetic.
Because we collected three genres -
landscape, still life and portrait -
important historical links can be
detected between the photographs and
the famous Dutch Masters' paintings
front the 17th century; especially with
regards to theme and the use of the
famous Dutch light.'
The Word spoke to a random selection
of Rabobankers who work in 'Silver' to
find out which are their favorite images
and why.
The decision was easy for Tlterry Derks,
RI's Area Manager for Latin America,
'1 really like all of Frank van der Salm's
images and especially the one called
'Spot' (page 8) located by the elevator on
the 6th floor,' he says. 'I find the image
fascinating because I'm not sure exactly
what I'm looking at! Where was it taken?
Germany? The Middle Fiast? The number-
plates on the cars look Portuguese.
I also really respect the skill required to
make such an image. The use of many
light sources is interesting and the com-
bination of focus and blurring heightens
the ambiguity of the photo.'
'My choice is Tulipomania II' (page 9)
because it's very modern, vibrant and
busy; it suits the atmosphere in our
offices,' reports Liesbeth Cappetti, 11R-
