Rl North America invests in
agri-education
embers of the RI team in New York have built a special relation-
ship witb patients and staff of the Columbia Presbyterian
Children's and Babies' Hospital over the past four years. Every year,
US$40,000 goes towards creating a children's carnival for patients and
parents in the hospital atrium. 'Staff come out in droves to participate in
this activity,' says Paul Canaday of Rl Human Resources, New York. A
voluntary committee of New York and New Jersey employees organizes
the event. 'People who have participated in previous hospital events hold
an information session in which they teil prospective volunteers about
their experiences. The response is very positive.Canaday believes this
event mutually benefits patients and Rl staff. 'I think these activities
contribute to employee morale and internal communication. A wide
cross-section of people participate, bringing together people who may
not work closely on a day-to-day basis. In fact, the overall enthusiasm
for this project is contagious. I suspect we get more out of it than
the children.
his fall, one of the country's leading agricultural
education providers, the Future Farmers of
America (FFA) organization will be featured in the
'Voices of Vision' public television series, due in part

The series will reach over 300 million households
in North America and overseas, communicating the
advantages of an agricultural education to an
extended community. 'By supporting FFA, we
