REGIONAL FOCUS Quick change Growing pains Situation end-2002 r~ Timing of Flexcube implementations Eelco Kaan - paying tribute to cooperation Brendan Burke - moving forward This change to a centralized admin- istration system had been attempted once before, unsuccessfully. 'The reason for its success this time, is that the business is being run regionally now and is more focused in terms of product and customer,' says Kaan. 'We're running tighter ships and of fering a narrower range of products to a more carefully selected group of clients.' Impiementation of the Flex- cube system takes only three to four months on average. Four offices (Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid and Dublin) have made the change in less than 12 months. Iflex Consultants, the purveyors of Flexcube, familiar with the banking business and the Flexcube system, assist with the im piementation from start to finish. They help determine the branches' requirements, set the systenTs para meters, train users, assist with data migration from the old system, and support with end-user tests. 'Basieally, they assist in various ways until we go live and beyond, supplying con- tinued support and service,' says Kaan. 'The speed of impiementation is also a great compliment to our own RI staff as they have had to play a full part in the projects while continuing to perform their normal daily functions.' Aggressive impiementation of Flex cube has meant some growing pains for those involved. 'Pains are a nor- mal part of the process when moving from a well-established and familiar system to an entirely new system,' says Kaan. 'It takes quite some time before old habits are replaced.
