The first quarter of 2001 has seen the for-
mulation and development of a compre-
hensive positioning paper and operating
model for Rabobank International (RI).
Input has been gathered from senior prod
uct, support and regional managers.
What has corne out of this team effort is a
clear review of where we came from, who
we are today, and perhaps most impor-
tantly, how we can structure our business
and activities to achieve corporate goals
now and in the future. RI's positioning pa
per has now been approved by the Execu-
tive Board and will be implemented upon
the consent of the Workers Council in the
Netherlands. This special issue of What's
NewS is inserted into our March edition,
which we've held back so that both could
be distributed together. The 'insert' carries
the niost important features of the posi
tioning paper and operating model: focus,
efficiency and teamwork for pursuing new
business opportunities on an ongoing
basis.
We've covered these items through verbal
explanation provided by Rik van
Slingelandt, Wouter Kolff and Ralf
Dekker. We've also included some organi-
grams to visualize accountability and re-
porting lines going forward. To a large ex-
tent the positioning of RI will appear fa-
miliar to you. Some refinements sharpen
the business case. Fact is that the Manag-
ing Board has written down who we are
and what we have to do in the markets we
explore. Here is a message for all of us to
implement.
