The change was needed as Bank Duta has stopped its operations and is no longer a shareholder. With effect from 4 December 2000, Frans Versteeg is appointed as RI's interim co-head of human resources. Join- ing Mare Hoodless, Versteeg assumes re- sponsibility in a number of areas: organiz- ing HR activities within the Netherlands; providing leadership to management development, training and learning activi ties; facilitating the Workers Council in re- gards to separation issues within the Netherlands; and, in cooperation with Hoodless, leading development of many HR related policies required to success- fully carry out the RI separation process. From 1 February, Jac Verhaegen becomes the sixth member of Rabobank Group's executive board. Verhaegen (60) will be re- sponsible for product develop ment and ICT initiatives for local member banks. His appointment will help the Group meet the ob- jectives set out in the new operating model of the local member banks: efficiency, short communication lines and effective decision-making. Verhaegen has extensive experience with Rabobank in a variety of roles. Most recently, Verhae gen was one of the board members in a local member bank in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Hans Smits, chairman of the Board, com- mented, Tm very plcased to welcome Jac Verhaegen to the executive board. Addi- tionally, in cooperation with legal depart- ment heads in the Group, the branches and RI's subsidiaries, Van Nierop will work to effectively and efficiently leverage the legal competences vested within the le gal function of the Rabobank Group worldwide. Van Nierop joins Rabobank International armed with four years expe rience in Rabobank Nederland's legal de- partment, where his duties were primarily Rl-focused.
