Everyone worked hard, thcn held their
breath. On this transition into the new
millennium... nothing happencd. The
lights still burned, the trains still ran, the
computers failed to shut down. If ever
there was a time when 'no news is good
news', this was it. As the midnight hour

swept across the globe front cast to west
and messages poured into our headquar-
ters command post, it grew progressively
more evident that all of us throughout the
Rabobank network did our jobs welk The
skies killed with fireworks explosions,
there was the diversion of laser shows and
rivers of champagne, and the night passed
into the first day of the New Year without
a single serious mishap anywhere in the
R1 network. One way or another, virtually
every Rabobanker contributed to this
successful effort, from those who spent
months meticulously troubleshooting to
the others who stood by 'on call' against
the possibility that something might go
wrong. Lest anyone feel a sense of anti
climax, there is still one last hurdle ahead:
the second transition phase. But we'll get
to that in a minute: on this page we
record the images of a job well done.
