By the time you read this, we will
have moved closer to the unifieation
of Rabobank International and the
German cooperative DG Bank's
wholesale operations. We've got the
basic structure for you and ean Hll in
sorne of the names. But don't forget,
creating this innovative new financial
institution is going to take sorne time -
so for us at Rl, we have a new strategie
focus worked out by the SRT and it's
business as usual. Turn to pages 3
through 8 for more; we're also carrying
merger background on the back page.
While nunterous international
Rabobankers have been decply involved
in the new strategy and many will be
working on achieving the merger, even
more have been looking after our
customers, not least through the hugely
successful global food and agribusiness
conference. The 1999 event brought
together the top end of the food supply
and retail industry in a stunning two-
day event (pages 10-13). Deals are also
high priority this issue - check out
pages 18 and 19 for more.
Information exchange on both products
and services is crucial. This issue looks
at forfaiting and cash clearing. IT is
anothcr issue on our agenda this
month. We've also checked out the
millennium situation for you - it's
getting closer all the time so be alert,
be aware and the transition to Y2K will
be a smooth one.
