Rabobank fhe summer of 1999 - hot time for RI International What'sNewS The summer in the northern hemisphere is often known as the silly season - it's a newspaper term for times when there is little or 110 news. For What's NewS and our readers, it seems there's no such thing. Besides everything that is going on - chasing deals, product development in GFM, knowledge transfer - it looks as if all international Rabobankers are also working feverishly to make sure the Strategie Review Team (STR) gets the best out of a whole summer of activity. People from around the network are debating and discussing the fine detail of best prac- tice so that the SRT ean develop a strategy jiaper for us all (sec page 6). This summer time also saw the mandating of a Transition Implementation Project (TIP) that will help build the organiza- tional framework we need to support us in becoming what Maarten Hulshoff calls 'best in class' (see pages 4 through l 1). And just in case you thought it's only Utrecht that is hot this summer, our people in Poland would teil you different. They seem to have the right prescription for healthy business (page 14) in their tough market. The rest of you have also been doing great deals - no hint of summer blues on pages 17 through 19. But why not check the whole hot issue for yourselves - we're sure you'11 find some pretty good summer reading whether you're taking that relaxing and well-earned vacation or you're out there in the market.
