IAMA - F&A's business forum Info exchange 3 .-a MÉM new publication In the 10 years since its foundation, the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IAMA) has grown from a primarily academie organization to the all round professional organization we know today. We offer a brief overview. i} What'sNewS Issue 7-July 1999 II Rabobankers have been associated with IAMA from its earliest ^Bhcginnings; I lerman Wijffels was its chairman in 1997 and we have provided speakers at many of its world congresses and other forums. The association brings together F&A-related academia, the business world, government bodies and offers a wealth of information - if you know how to access it. Besides the congresses (the next one is slated for Chicago, 25-28 June 2000 and will focus on Consunters, Technology, Environment: creating opportunities, managing risk), IAMA publishes an extensive range of magazines and journals which reflect the broad base of its membership. Although to some extent, the association can appear weighted towards academia and governmental bodies, increasingly people from the corporate side of F&A and ^^elated sectors are showing interest in participating in the only truly international forum for the industry. It is, therefore, perhaps unsurprising that Rabobank has become increasingly involved in global events, not only through basic sponsorshp, but also in providing input and content for congress sessions. At the most recent world congress, held in Florence in June, RI sponsored three sessions with a specific global and financial focus. We were certainly in good company as other sponsors included top names in the business, such as Novartis, Monsanto, ConAgra, Farmland and Holland's own Ahold. If you'd like to hnd out more about the association or see if there are potential advantages in membership, ^^:heck out the extensive IAMA website ^^vhich is updated regularly and gives insight into both activities and sector- related news.
