Our new ambition statement will
provide a touchstone in this process
of evolution and growth.

As we spread out, both geographically
and functionally, we are coloured by
many new shades of diversity; at the same
time, our successful evolution depends on
projecting the distinet and unequivocal
corporate identity, one that lies firmly at
our core. 'Corporate culture is decisive in
success or failure, and it is something that
has to be
cultivated in
a coherent
way,' says
Hanno
Riedlin of the
managing
board. 'This
ambition
statement
clearly
enunciates
the core
values of the
bank, and it
is intended
both to
maintain and
project these values as we expand. After
all, if we want to be different from other
banks, then we need to make those
differences more tangible.'
The statement, nine months in the
making, involved an extensive process
of discussion and revision. Riedlin, one
of its leading authors, calls it a dynamic
document that is open to feedback.
It condenses the key elements of our
customer focus strategy and, like the
ambition statement of our parent
company, Rabobank Nederland, it
encapsulates what we are and where we
want to go. In short, it defïnes 'consistent
criteria that apply whether we're buying
another financial institution or setting up
a new branch or moving into a new
business activity,' Riedlin says.

Our primary aim is the creation of customer value.
This ambition is embedded in the underpinning
philosophy of Rabobank International as part of the
Dutch cooperative Rabobank Group.
The Rabobank Group is rooted in a long tradition of
customer orientation through its cooperative culture.
It makes available to customers the full range of
Allfinanz services, including retail banking, insurance,
leasing, factoring, private banking, asset
management and venture capital. Rabobank
International is its global wholesale bank. All dients
have access to the expertise and full range of
services and products created by a network of
committed professionals and supported by advanced
systems.
Two areas of special expertise have been developed
over a century by the Rabobank organization.
Drawing on that expertise, Rabobank International
offers unparalleled know how in both food and
agribusiness and health care. As a financial
institution, we strive continually to grow our already
considerable expertise in high-value banking
products. We will continually extend this expertise in
order to serve our own dients and to support those
of our sister organizations. All of our endeavours are
aimed at fulfilling this commitment to creating
customer value.
We are systematically and selectively growing our
international network. When we establish operations
in a country, we will respect both culture and values
of that country. However, as Rabobank International,
we will not make concessions in our own values.
Although our activities are international and varied,
we will safeguard solvency and liquidity to ensure
the continuity of service as basis for the ongoing
creation of customer value.

Our ambition is to add value for all Rabobank
dients by:
Understanding their business, their environment
and their ambitions;
Working proactively on the creation of the most
suitable financial solutions for their needs;
Offering and facilitating access to the wealth of
knowledge and expertise available in the
Rabobank Group.
To achieve this ambition, we, as Rabobank
International, will build continually on our existing
reputation for excellente in:
Food and agribusiness
Health care
And as provider of selected financial products in
the fields of corporate, investment and private
banking.
Core values
By adhering consistently to its core values, Rabobank
International's core goals will remain transparent in
every area of activity.
These values have been formulated as:
