The euro will impact financial institutions on
both sides of the Atlantic which is why Pamela
Hobson has recently been appointed to set up
New York's Euro Project Office. Although not
exactly a new asset in the bank - she's been
with New York branch for five years - Pam's new
role is to manage the marketing, systems,
regulatory and operational efforts associated
with the launch of a single currency in Europe.
The project office also publishes a newsletter -
Pam will be happy to put you on the mailing
list and welcomes info from elsewhere in
the network. Call her on direct dial

To prove the US is on track for the
coming of the single European currency,
nearly 100 New York financial
professionals attended a euro seminar at
the quarterly meeting of the Association
of International Bank Auditors (AIBA)
on June 23. And keynote speaker was
our own RI euro project manager, Hans
Reusch. His presentation focused on the
impact of the single currency on
banking globallv, including the
economie consequences and the impact
on US business in particular. According
to Pamela Hobson (see above), 'Hans
was very effective in raising the
auditors' awareness of the euro as a
business-driven issue, and of its
important consequences for both EMU
and non-EMU based companies.' She
also added that for the attending New
York financial professionals, 'the
seminar did a lot to lift the profile of
Rabobank International as a euro
expert.'
Corporate Communications are increasingly
recognized as essential in today's business. Cheryl
Lyons has joined the bank to support our growing
need for consistent information flows. A former
consultant, she is currently building an inventory
of what RI North America has, what it needs and
how to generate it.
