True, Moscow representative's
general manager Maarten Pronk is
a new face, but as he's been with
us since September, he's not brand
new.Something of a specialist in
emerging markets, specifically in
his knowledge of Eastern Europe
and South America, Pronk it seems
is tailor-made for the job of
setting up Rabobank's operational
presence in Russia. One of his
previous positions was with ING
as their Moscow general manager,
a post from which he walked away
with a prestigious 'best foreign
bank in Russia'award.Surinam-
born, Pronk is a Dutch national
with more than 15 years of
banking expertise behind him.
Aside from establishing new
operations in emerging markets,
other areas of specialization
include trade finance and fixed

income securities. Russia he views
as a continent with 'tremendous
potential.' He feels the Russian
market is not merely exciting, it is
also significant.'To be doing
business for the Rabobank in
Russia is for me living through an
historie process.'
Investigations are underway for
opening a rep office in Tokyo
following recent managing
board approval.The move is in
line with proposals set out in
the investment banking plan.
