WHAT'S NewS Issue 4 April! 997
'I would like to see Rabobank
International take its place as a more
prominent member of the global
investment banking community,' says
Alex von Ungern-Sternberg ACA (46),
who has been appointed to the
Managing Board of Rabobank
International with effect from 7 April
1997.
'The challenge is to further strengthen our
global network so that we can enhance the
service to our corporate and institutional
clients. We aim to have a co-ordinated
origination, trading and sales strategy
across the branches. This will enable us to
increase the effectiveness with which we
can cross-sell each other's products, to the
benefit of both the bank and our clients.'
'My aim is to capitalize on the work that
has already been done, in particular by
strengthening the sales function on an
international basis. I also hope to leverage
Rabobank's traditional customer
penetration in the food, agricultural and
healthcare markets.'
Within the Managing Board, Alex von
Ungern-Sternberg takes over responsibility
for all Rabobank's investment banking
activities, including equities, which was
formerly shared by Arthur Arnold and
Wouter Kolff. He has also been appointed
Chairman of the Management Team
Investment Banking, with responsibility
for the Client Management Group
Financial Institutions.
'The appointment of Alex von Ungern-
Sternberg to the Managing Board is
another important step and further proof
of our commitment to expand our
Investment Banking activities for our
target customer groups as described in our
Customer Focus Strategy.' says Arthur
Arnold, chairman of the Managing Board.
Alex von Ungern-Sternberg is the first
non-Dutchman to join our Managing
Board, which represents a milestone in the
internationalization process of Rabobank*
International.
Von Ungern-Sternberg is a UK Chartered
Accountant, and has held senior
management positions at Deutsche Bank
AG in London and Frankfurt, Deutsche
Morgan Grenfell in London, and
Barclays/BZW in London. He will share
his time between the Utrecht and London
offices.
