i 8 ri organization What's NewS Issue 11 November 1996 GLOBAL IT/OPEX - MAKING UP THE BALANCE It is hardly news that we embarked on a so-called Global IT/Operational Excellence program OPEX earlier this year. What is news is the result of a thorough business review which maps out requirements for now and, even more importantly.for the future as we face such major challenges as the Euro and - of course - the 'millenium' issue. At the start of our international operations we created locally driven administrative organizations with locally driven IT systems, aiming at the best possible local efficiency. Now, having grown into a true network organization we need administrative organizations and IT systems, that can be linked. This is the major challenge, we are facing. 'We are still in the process ofvalidating all the requirements and ouralternative options/says Hanno Riedlin, the managing board member who shares responsiblity for these programs with Henk van der Stelt. 'But I want to stress here that this is not a 'head office' idea. The international admistration Task Force emphasized the need for interactive systems and the need for cross-border cooperation - at every level in this field. We have to do this together and it has to be driven by the offices around the world, not solely by people in head office.' Hanno Riedlin: 'Still in the proces of validating all the requirements and alternative options. WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT A five-person managing board has been appointed for Rabobank International.
