BRANCHES OUT
Rabobank
Wha t 's NewS
MONTHLY INT K RNA L NEWSLETTER FOR RABOBANK INTERNATIONAL Issue 9September 1996
A record first half profit (up 37 percent) for the bank's Australia
and New Zealand Group was crowned on August 28 by the
launch of the bank as a branch operation in New Zealand. Until
April this year, when corporate banking activities were
established in this market, the bank had been growing its 'rural'
lending activities. By opening the branch - we are the first
overseas bank to receive a licence for more than four years - the
team is now also in a position to tackle the corporate market
from a location close to the cliënt base.
'We are the only integrated agricultural and agribusiness bank in
this country,' said Cor Broekhuyse, who is CEO of both
Rabobank Australia and Rabobank - New Zealand Branch
(that's the official title). Speaking to clients and the media at the
opening ceremony, which was performed by Henk Visser,
Broekhuyse stressed the new operation will provide
comprehensive financing for the entire agribusiness chain. He
also announced the appointment of Jaap Klep as general manager
effective October 1. Klep was in New Zealand for the opening
and got his first taste of the country and the bank's clients during
a visit to a hill station. Kiwis - welcome to the network.

ROAD RUNNERS
Corporate challenge was the
name of the game and
Rabobank Germany faced it: a
^feud run over 5.6 kilometres
^Through Frankfurt. A team of
24 German Rabobankers -
including the management
board - was among the
thousands of competitors from
all over the country. The whole
spectacle was great fun for the
runners and their fans. Best
time among our participants
was achieved by Markus
Müller of corporate banking
F&A with 23:45 - that's
minutes and seconds, of
course. Markus also organized
the event for the bank. Best
female runner was Danielle
Steek of risk management
(30:30). Overall, the bank
finished 127th out of 412
teams.
