Frankfurt PRESENTS... c c 3 Rabobank What's NewS Monthi.y intkrnal neusletter for the Central Banking Secto"r" Issue 5 May 1996 Frankfurt's Van Ravenstein (right): Although we've already done quite a nuniber of very nice deals in co- operation with Utrecht, we thought a little internat marketing would serve to reinforce existing contacts. Boosting cross-border networking was the aim of a dedicated presentation by Rabobank Germany's non-food team to colleagues in Utrecht on April 15. 'The bank in Germany has been through quite a lot of changes in the last couple of years,' says corporate banking chief Adriaan van Ravenstein. 'Following successful reorganization, we are now very much on track. We have restructured our account management efforts into F&A and specialized non-food segments. The Frankfurt non-food team, comprising Uwe Opitz, Stefan Riphaus, Björn Grofê, Dirk Warner, Julian Ostheim and Michael Abel, was keen to get across what they were doing in their own markets. 'But also,' says Riphaus, 'to open up discussions with co-workers in the network on how we can improve cooperation.' While Frankfurt is not planning a global 'roadshow', plans are in the pipeline to take similar sector- focused presentations to other branches. in brief contents ZURICH IPB ACQUISITION The integration of the Swiss- based private banking unit of the Austrian GiroCredit Bank into the bank's IPB operation in Zurich has been completed. ^lie due diligence and closing ^•ocedures for this acquisition were finalized at the end of February,' says general manager Heinz Zimmer, 'and all clients had been absorbed into our operation before we moved to our new building on March 25.' According to Zimmer, the acquisition of a total of four account officers and 10 support staff, which brings Zurich's head count to 38, was an opportunity to expand the bank's cliënt base. 'These new clients are predominantly European and from the Middle East,' he says, 'so they strategically complement our existing, imarily Dutch expatriate, lentele.' Besides the acquis ition, negotiations with Giro Credit in Vienna has also led to agreements on potential cooperation in attracting Austrian clients. HOCKEY TOP SPORT From July 1, Central Banking Sector will be the main sponsor for the Royal Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB). For some time, Central Banking Sector has been sponsor of the Dutch 'company league' and has been working with the KNHB on the World Hockey Championships to be held in Utrecht in 1998. Sponsorship of the company league, in which major Dutch corporates participate, means the bank can actively promote sporting and informal contacts between companies. The World Championships will be hosted by the Netherlands in the year the KNHB (and Rabobank) celebrates its centenary. Central Banking Sector sees the sponsorship agreement as a means of targetting specific international corporate groups. A whole range of cliënt hospitality arrangements will be open to the network during the championships. Although this event is still two years in the future, international offices may want to take note of dates and tentative programs so that they can plan well in advance.
