E.^y Rabobank managers discover New York by bike Brazil exports all over the world Successful meetings with 'overwinterers' Rabobank Duta becomes more visible The Stuttgart six-day bicycle race Chinese study factoring In the third week of May, ten general managers of local Rabobanks visited the United States for business purposes. They had a busy schedule which inciuded visiting several Dutch companies in the New York area. An extra-curricular activity was a bike tour in Manhattan which was organized by Bert Wiss of the New York Branch. The managers concluded that biking in Chinatown was quite an experience! Ofcourse, being in New York, a visit to the New York Branch was part of the programme. During a dinner in the Nether- land Club of New York, they were welcomed by The Hon. C.W.A. de Groot, consul gen eral of the Netherlands in New York. The group also went to Washington D.C. where they met with the Minister Plenipo- tentiary and the agricultural at taché of the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce. 'No financial worries while you enjoy the Spanish sun. Your money is in good hands with Rabobank Luxembourg.' Under this slogan, Rabobank Luxem bourg organized information afternoons on 16 and 17 April for Dutch people staying in Spain, known as the 'over winterers'. The meetings in Moraira and Benidorm were organized in cooperation with the representative office in Madrid and Banco Popular Espahol. They attracted the interest of over 300 people. 'A very satisfactory result,' says Ad van Hienen, managing director of Rabobank Luxem bourg. Gerard van Duinen, head of Investments at Iris - the joint venture of Rabobank and the Robeco Group - gave a talk on 'how to invest'. Van Hienen explained the role of Rabobank Luxembourg. Maus Barendrecht spoke about the possibilities which the representative office in Madrid offers Rabobank customers and what the cooperation with Banco Popular can mean. At the end of the meetings there was ample opportunity for the participants to talk to the speakers about their personal financial questions. To emphasize its presence in Jakarta (Indonesia) Rabo bank Duta has succeeded in installing the well-known Rabobank neon logo sign in front of Sampoerna Plaza alongside the prominent Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said where the office is located. This makes it easier for visitors to find their way to Rabobank Duta in this fast-developing metropolis of some 8 million inhabitants. ADCA-BANK was present at the Stuttgart six-day bicycle race, a noted event in Germany. A two-man racing team, con- sisting of Andreas Klaus and Gerd Dörich, took part in the contests wearing the colours of ADCA-BANK. The bank invited numerous customers and cycle- racing fans to be present at this six-day event. Representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Bank of China paid a visit to the Netherlands at the end of April. Among other things, they spent some time at Rabobank Nederland in Utrecht and De Lage Lan- den's new head office in Eind hoven. The Chinese wanted to gain an insight into the position of the Netherlands in international trade and the possibilities fac toring can offer for the smooth handling of money transfers. The Rabobank branch in Hong Kong has been actively market ing factoring as a product for years now, both in Hong Kong and in China. It is expected that in the near future a contract will be concluded between De Lage Landen and the Chinese Min istry of Foreign Trade.
