In the third week of May,
ten general managers of local
Rabobanks visited the United
States for business purposes.
They had a busy schedule
which inciuded visiting several
Dutch companies in the New
York area. An extra-curricular
activity was a bike tour in
Manhattan which was
organized by Bert Wiss of the
New York Branch. The
managers concluded that
biking in Chinatown was quite
an experience!
Ofcourse, being in New York, a
visit to the New York Branch
was part of the programme.
The managers also attended
some lectures which were

The Commercial Department
of Raibobank do Brasil recently
concluded its first agreement.
This department mainly concen-
trates on offering short-term
export-prefinancing arrange-
ments to major local companies
trading in agri-soft commodities
such as citrus, coffee and soya.
The agreement involves the
granting of a credit facility of
US$ 15,000,000 to Frutesp,
which is both Brazil's and the
world's third largest citrus
exporter.
The facility, which is primarily
aimed at prefinancing Frutesp's
sales on the European markt, is
jointly managed by the North

Blaise De Jong, a Dutch law
firm in New York City, and a
partner from Moret Ernst
Young, registered accountants.
During a dinner in the Nether-
land Club of New York, they
were welcomed by The Hon.
C.W.A. de Groot, consul gen
eral of the Netherlands in New
York. The group also went to
Washington D.C. where they
met with the Minister Plenipo-
tentiary and the agricultural at
taché of the Netherlands
Chamber of Commerce.
'No financial worries while
you enjoy the Spanish sun. Your
money is in good hands with
Rabobank Luxembourg.' Under
this slogan, Rabobank Luxem
bourg organized information
afternoons on 16 and 17 April
for Dutch people staying in
Spain, known as the 'over
winterers'. The meetings in
Moraira and Benidorm were
organized in cooperation with
the representative office in
Madrid and Banco Popular
Espahol. They attracted the
interest of over 300 people. 'A
very satisfactory result,' says
Ad van Hienen, managing
director of Rabobank Luxem
bourg. Gerard van Duinen, head
of Investments at Iris - the joint
venture of Rabobank and the
Robeco Group - gave a talk on
'how to invest'. Van Hienen
explained the role of Rabobank
Luxembourg.
Maus Barendrecht spoke about
the possibilities which the
representative office in Madrid
offers Rabobank customers
and what the cooperation with
Banco Popular can mean. At
the end of the meetings there
was ample opportunity for the
participants to talk to the
speakers about their personal
financial questions.
To emphasize its presence
in Jakarta (Indonesia) Rabo
bank Duta has succeeded in
installing the well-known
Rabobank neon logo sign in
front of Sampoerna Plaza
alongside the prominent Jl.
H.R. Rasuna Said where the
office is located. This makes it
easier for visitors to find their
way to Rabobank Duta in this
fast-developing metropolis of
some 8 million inhabitants.
ADCA-BANK was present at
the Stuttgart six-day bicycle
race, a noted event in Germany.
A two-man racing team, con-
sisting of Andreas Klaus and
Gerd Dörich, took part in the
contests wearing the colours of
ADCA-BANK. The bank invited
numerous customers and cycle-
racing fans to be present at this
six-day event.
Representatives of the
Chinese Ministry of Foreign
Trade and the Bank of China
paid a visit to the Netherlands
at the end of April. Among
other things, they spent some
time at Rabobank Nederland
in Utrecht and De Lage Lan-
den's new head office in Eind
hoven.
The Chinese wanted to gain an
insight into the position of the
Netherlands in international
trade and the possibilities fac
toring can offer for the smooth
handling of money transfers.
The Rabobank branch in Hong
Kong has been actively market
ing factoring as a product for
years now, both in Hong Kong
and in China. It is expected that
in the near future a contract will
be concluded between De Lage
Landen and the Chinese Min
istry of Foreign Trade.
