in the Netherlands
The treasury managers
meet in the Netherlands tor the
second time. The subjects dis-
cussed include the policy and
new products.
General Meeting
As happens every year, the
general meeting of Rabobank
Nederland takes place on the
first Thursday in June. Some
3,000 board members and
other invited guests come to
Utrecht. The latest develop-
ments in Rabobank are pre-
sented at an information
market organized in connection
with the meeting.
interpolis again
On 1 June Rabobank Neder
land officially acquires the In
terpolis shares of the farmers'
organizations and the Verenig
de Hagelunie, which brings its
total interest in Interpolis to
95%. The two Chairmen of the
Executive Board, Groninger and
Wijffels, inform the media at a
press conference.
First Dutchman in Berlin
Peter Berns is appointed
General Manager of the ADCA-
BANK in (what was then) West
Berlin.
Cash dispensers popular

In Alkmaar Rabobank in-
stalls the thousandth cash dis
penser, giving it the lead in
terms of numbers. Rabobank
has more cash dispensers
than all the other Dutch banks
put together. The first free
standing cash kiosk is also in-
stalled. It is comparable with a
spacious telephone booth. The
kiosk is open 24 hours a day
and comprises safety devices
which make it impossible to
break into.

(I), joins the Executive Board of
Rabobank Nederland
ADCA-BANK in East Germany
Rabobank intends to open
up a branch in Leipzig, East
Germany, through its German
subsidiary ADCA-BANK. A GDR
desk is also added to the ADCA
branch in West Berlin. In this
way Rabobank aims to take ad-
vantage of the opportunities re-
sulting for business clients
from the German-German mon-
etary and economie union dat-
ing from 1 July.
Ruys comes to 'International
Division'
Charles Ruys, former Gen
eral Manager of Rabobank
Breda, joins FOD. He replaces
Anton Nillesen - now General
Manager in Hong Kong - as
Head of the Foreign Offices De
partment.
Hong Kong office moves
The representative office in
Hong Kong moves to different
premises. But that is not the
end of the story. A few months'
work still has to be done on the
interior before the office is con-
verted into a fully-fledged bank
branch.
Two million museum visitors
The two million holders of a
Rabobank Europas are given
an 'annual museum card'. This
allows them free admission to
most Dutch museums for a
whole year. The annual mu
seum card is free.
London growing
The London Branch moves.
The new building consists of
eightfloors and a basement for
storage and plant. There are
even two parking spaces,
which are at a premium in the
City.
Interpolis plays chess
As in previous years, Inter
polis organizes a chess tourna-
ment which enjoys internat
ional renown. The winners
were Gata Kamsky and Vassily
Ivanchuk.
World ploughing champion
The world ploughing cham-
pionships are held in the
Netherlands. Rabobank is the
main sponsor. Graeme Witty
from the UK proves to be the
world's best ploughman.
Cooperation with Crédit
Agricole
Rabobank Nederland enters
into a collaborative agreement
with Crédit Agricole, the French
cooperative equivalent of Rabo
bank. With a balance sheet
total of about Dfl. 470 billion
and 9,300 branches, Crédit
Agricole is the largest bank in
France and one of the top 10
worldwide.
Madrid open
Executive Board Chairman
Wijffels officially opens the
Rabobank Nederland represen
tative office in Madrid. At that
time it had already been oper-
ational for a year. General Man
ager Maus Barendrecht also
maintains the contacts with
the Banco Popular Espahol,
comprising 1,600 branches.
New dealing room
The new dealing room of
the Financial Markets Division
at the Croeselaan in Utrecht is
opened. The new dealing room
has 106 dealer positions. The
dealers in (foreign) currency,
forwards contracts, bonds, se-
curities, deposits, etcetera
now have high-tech equipment
and specially designed furni-
ture at their disposal.
LPO in Brussels too
A Loan Production Office is
opened in Brussels. The office
is an outpost of Rabobank Bel-
gium in Antwerp and will be
staffed by five persons.
Executive Board complete
again
Frank Schreve is appointed
a member of the Executive
Board of Rabobank Nederland.
He will assume office on 1 May
next year.
Mammoth merger in the
Netherlands
The umpteenth merger in
the Dutch financial world:
NMB/Postbank and Nationale
Nederlanden announce they
are to join forces. The amalga-
mation of the third largest bank
in the Netherlands with the
country's largest insurer is par-
ticularly aimed at the interna
tional market.
Interpolis goes international
Rabobank insurer Interpo
lis starts cooperating with ABB
in Belgium, R V in Germany
and Groupama in France. Each
insurer will set up a local
branch in the other countries.
All the partners come from the
agricultural sector and are
market leaders in their own
countries.
Rabobank leads issue
The European Investment
Bank in Luxembourg borrows
Dfl. 300 million on the Dutch
capital market. Rabobank Ne
derland acts as the leader of
the underwriting syndicate.
Belgium day a success
Almost five hundred visitors
are present at the information
day on Belgium held in Utrecht.
