The new building which houses the Lon don branch was handed over in March and was fitted out to our requirements this summer. The move took place during the Bank Holiday at the end of August. The new building consists of eight floors and a basement for storage and plant. There are even two parking spaces, which are at a premium in the City. The total floor area at 108 Cannon Street is approximate- ly 36,000 square feet as compared to 10,000 in the former building in Mark Lane. Even though three floors have initially been subiet, it provides much needed space for present and future staff, which has grown in numbers from 10 in September 1985, when the branch opened, to 60 at present. The London branch has managed to obtain an easy-to-remember telephone number, 071 280 3000, and was allowed to choose the iast two letters of the new postal code, which is EC4N 6RN! A Loan Production Office has been opened in Brussels this month. The office is an outpost of Rabobank Belgium in Antwerp. In the small country of Belgium there are great cultural differences between the Dutch-speaking Flanders in the north and the French-speaking Walloon provinces in the south. Brussels is officially a bilingual city. These facts make it desirable to adopt a separate approach to Brussels and the Walloon region. With a view to further mar- ket penetration in French-speaking Belgium, a physical presence is essential. In addi- tion, Brussels is the financial centre of Bel gium and with the unification of Europe in 1992 in mind it firmly intends to be the capital of Europe. Office space has been leased in Brussels. The office will be staffed by five persons.
