With the opening of seven
new foreign offices, 1989
should be considered - from an
international point of view - as
a historical year for the organi-
zation. The opening of the new
offices was announced by eye-
catching advertisements, both
in the relevant national markets
and in the Netherlands.
The last of a series of Man
agement Conferences was held
recently. During these confer
ences, some 950 general man
agers of local Rabobanks and
250 executives of Rabobank
Nederland exchanged views on
the policy the Rabobank Group
is intending to follow in the
coming years. The policy was
discussed at eight conferences,
each attended by about 150
participants. In further policy
development, in which the
speakers at the conference are
involved, the comments of the
participants will be taken into
account.
A series of Management Confer
ences was also held in 1987, the
main topic of discussion at that
time being the objectives of the
Rabobank Group. It was clearly
stated that the organization's pri-
In a series of reports in the
worldwide edition of the Har-
vard Business Review, the Rabo
bank Group will publish three
articles in the course of this
year concerning developments
in the agribusiness industry.
The first article appears in the
March/April issue of the Har-
mary target group consists of the
companies which are members
of local Rabobanks. Among other
things, the further expansion of
the number of foreign offices and
of the cooperation with local
banks familiar with the country
resulted from this.
Rabobank's profile for the nine
ties again emerged more clearly
during the last conference. First
and foremost, Rabobank will
present itself as a cooperative
supplier of financial services ac-
cording to the 'All-Finanz' con
cept. Service to the Dutch mem-
ber companies will continue to
have priority, but in addition fuli
attention will be given to main-
taining a strong position in the re-
tail market. Our own interna
tional wholesale bank, which
specializes in agribusiness, will
play an important part here. Al-
liances in related areas, such as
the cooperation with Banco
Popular Espahol, wiil serve to
strengthen the organization.
vard Business Review and deals
with the subject Trends in the
EC Dairy Industry'. The other two
articles will appear in the July/
August and September/Octo-
ber issues. Extra copies of the
FIBR issues containing these
articles can be ordered from the
International Advertising De
partment.
In November and Decem
ber last year an international
Communications survey was
conducted for Rabobank
among agribusiness corpo-
rates in the United States, the
United Kingdom and South-
East Asia, i.e. Singapore,
Malaysia and Indonesia.
The survey was aimed at as-
sessing the reading behaviour
of CEOs and CFOs within the
agribusiness sectors, namely
the food-processing industry,
agri-commodities and agricul-

of agribusiness sectors, in-
cluded 'The dairy industry in

business'.
In view of the developments in
Eastern Europe, it is planned to
start a study of the agricultural
sectors in the countries of East
ern Europe, together with the
relevant consequences for the
Dutch agricultural sectors and,
more generally, for the agri
business segments in the
European Community as a
whole. The study will be pub-
lished before summer this year.
The 1990 edition of the Inter
national Directory will be avail-
able this month and an updat-
ed edition of 'The Finance of
Dutch Agriculture' wiil appear
in September.
In cooperation with the Inter
national Flowerbulb Centre Hol
land, Rabobank Nederland - as
a co-sponsor - will be repre-
sented at the Holland Garden
Festival in Osaka, which will be
held from April to October.
There will be a joint Rabobank
and ADCA-BANK stand at
the International Dairy Exhibi-
tion 'InterMo-

seldorf, to be

turai machinery and equip-
ment. The survey included a
total of 300 telephone inter
views, i.e. 100 interviews in
each area. The main con-
clusions were, that among the
financial decision-makers in
the agribusiness sectors the
coverage of financial and busi
ness media is higher than of
specialized agribusiness me
dia. In the USA, Rabobank
comes second afterthe ABN in
an awareness rating of the
four largest Dutch banks. And
in the UK and South-East Asia
the spontaneous awareness
of Rabobank is third after ABN
and AMRO.
The Corporate brochure 'The
Rabobank Group', now avail-
able in English and Spanish,
will be published in a French,
German and Italian version fair-
ly soon.
