Today - 5 april 1989 -
Rabobank Luxembourg SA
was officially opened. Frans
Boons, member of the Execu-
tive Board of Rabobank Ne
derland was there to do the
honours.
Ad van Hienen will head this
true offshoot of Rabobank Ne
derland which will provide pri
vate banking services dealing
mainly with investment man
agement and deposits. Cus-
'omers have already shown a
great deal of interest in
Rabobank Luxembourg during
the short period that it has
been operational. The present
staff of five employees is ex-
pected to grow to ten in the
years to come.
Some 700 customers and
representatives of local Rabo-
banks visited the German/Hol-
land days held at the Head Of
fice in Utrecht on 23 and 24
November. The increasing liber-
alization of cross-border trade
as the Single European Market
omes in sight and, of course,
the services of Rabobank were
the highlights. Many contacts
were made between Dutch cus
tomers, representatives of local
banks and the ADCA-BANK dur
ing the Germany/Holland days.

vYEAR OF TH F SOLDEN SNAKE...
There is a growing number of branches of the
Rabobank Group outside the Netherlands. In Eu-
rope branches have been opened in Belgium,
West Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland,
nl OT France and England. Italy and Spain will follow
I ■■Hl soon. Rabobank is also active in North and
South America. Banking services for Dutch customers are pro-
vided in New York, Dallas, Cura$ao and shortly also in San
Francisco and Sao Paulo, and new markets are being devel-
oped in agribusiness. The Far East has not been overlooked.
The Singapore branch was set up in 1986. Attention will be fo-
cused on developments in the Far East in this issue of
Raboband International.
A temporary office is to
be opened in the business
centre of Milan in Italy on
the lst of June. The perma
nent premises, surrounded by
the offices of other banks,
will be opened towards the
end of the year.
Milan is the industrial and fi-
nancial heart of Italy. That ex-
plains why so many Italian
banks are to be found there.
This office will assist Dutch
customers with their import
and export activities under the
guidance of Jan Scherphof, for-
mer General Manager of the
Rabobank in Gorssel, the
Netherlands. The possibilities
of upgrading the Milan office
to a full branch will be exam-
ined.
The first instalment of
'Bank in View', a video bulletin
for Rabobank Nederland's for-
eign-based offices, appeared
at the end of January.
Bert Tielemans, head of the Au-
dio-Visual Department talked to
Herman Wijffels, chairman of
the Executive Board of
Rabobank Nederland about re-
sults booked by the organiza-
tion in 1988, and European uni-
fication. The personnel of most
local Rabobanks in the Nether
lands watch weekly instalments
of the Dutch version of 'Bank in
View', a video bulletin showing
topical subjects of interest. Pro-
duced in our own studio of the
Eindhoven Head Office, the
hundredth instalment of this
bulletin appeared recently.
More instalments of the En-
glish 'Bank in View' will be pro-
duced in the future.
A survey of the European
banks was published in the
January 1989 issue of 'Eu-
romoney' magazine. The Rabo
bank ranked high in the vari-
ous classifications.
