The performance talks we have held since 1982 have become an
important guide and aid to career planning and subsequent choice of
training programs.
In an effort to further improve internal communication and
cooperation we began at the end of 1983 with regular work evaluation
sessions. By using this approach we expect to strengthen our
employees' sense of involvement in the company, which in turn will
improve efficiency.
Moreover, in 1983 more attention was devoted to curbing the number
of absences due to illness; the percentage of illnes-related absence is
currently on the decline. We assume that a better guidance in this
area will continue to show positive results in the coming years.
This year again, the employees council demonstrated a constructive
attitude which resulted in clear contributions to the company.
The council met 6 times with the management during the year under
review.
The number of employees in the finance and real estate operations in
1983 dropped from 371 to 356. Furthermore, 16 employees were
employed on a temporary basis.
As of December 31,1983 there were 1021 (1982: 990) people employed
by the entire group of FGH-companies.
