year under review. The block of flats, Corverserf at Hilversum, was completed in 1976. In both cases sales developed satisfactorily. A start was made with the construction of apartments in The Hague (55 units), Eindhoven (81 units) and Bolnes (117 units), which will be completed in the course of 1977. For these projects, too, sales prospects are most satisfactory. The Scheveningen plan, in the ownership of which we participate, had a successful start with the smooth sale of the first part of the project, a flat building consisting of 150 units. A start has been made with the renovation of the Kurhaus. The total amount invested in our own projects - including our share in projects which we develop with others was f 105.5 million during the financial year. At the end of 1976 our investments in projects under construction totalled f 128.4 million. In the operation sector a number of blocks of dwellings were ac quired for a total amount of f 51 million to replace the real estate holdings that were disposed of. On the other hand, there were sales, partly to the individual occupants, to an amount of ƒ20.7 million. By doing so we followed the demand for privately-owned houses, to which reference has been made above. The Hoog Catharijne shopping centre in Utrecht enjoys the interest of both tenants and the buying public. In the recently completed Godebald district, situated off Moreelse- park, almost the entire, remaining retail area was let to the Netto markt, which meant a suitable conclusion of the retail assortment. The Hoog Brabant catering business continues to develop favourably thanks to increasing sales and improved efficiency and gradually grows in profitability. The measures to improve efficiency include the closing-down of the Noord Brabant restaurant, where a profitable operation had become impossible as a result of the old-fashioned arrangement of the premises and the deteriorated location, caused by the restructurization of Vredenburg. For the staff a favourable solution could be found in Hoog Brabant, which is adapted to modern working conditions. Within the framework of the spread of our interests we continued our activities in Belgium with the start of two objects, viz. 60 flats at Waterloo and 84 apartments at De Haan, while the construction of two other objects, at Ukkel and De Panne, will shortly begin. office building Assen aerial photograph Aerofoto Eelde 17
