Total current account business increased from fl. 1,300 million in 1950 to fl. 1,700 million in 1951.
There has been very steady expansion if the monthly figures for the two years are compared it
will be seen that the total movements, both debit and credit and for each month taken separately,
have been higher during the year under review than the corresponding amounts for 1950.
The following diagram furthermore shows that the seasonal fluctuations observed in previous
years have been maintained with the greater volume of business. It is striking however that the
peak of the current account business by agricultural banks has moved from the month of June
in previous years to the months of July and August in the year under review. The good fruit year
1951 and the high prices for farm produce have had an unmistakable effect.

CREDITS AND LOANS.
Credits and loans again increased in importance during 1951. The amount of outstanding loans
increased by fl. 30.2 million as at 31 st December, debit balances on current account increased by
fl. 4.6 million.
As the diagram overleaf shows, new advances were more evenly divided over the quarters than
was the case in previous years when there was a constant rise.
